New LAR rifle model discovered in CS2 game files
A new rifle model named LAR has been discovered within the Counter-Strike 2 game files. If implemented, this would represent the first new weapon added to the game since its official release.
The discovery follows previous findings from about a month ago, when dataminers such as Gabe Follower identified a weapon referred to as the M14. In the latest update, the weapon received a dedicated in-game model and was renamed to LAR, likely standing for lever action rifle. The model resembles a classic Winchester rifle and features a holographic sight with a slight zoom, similar to the AUG.
Based on data found in the files, the weapon's potential characteristics include:
- A purchase price of $4,100;
- A reload mechanic where bullets are chambered one by one after the magazine is empty, similar to the XM1014;
- The use of iron sights or a low-magnification sight rather than a high-power scope.
Currently, the assets are located in a folder labeled do_not_ship. This suggests that many aspects of the LAR may undergo significant changes before it is officially introduced to the game in any capacity.
