Mycopunk 1.0 is out: new class and content in fungus looter shooter

The online co-op looter shooter Mycopunk has officially transitioned to version 1.0. This full release brings new playable content, expanded missions, and various gameplay improvements to the fungal-themed title.

In Mycopunk, players take on the roles of robot rejects fighting off hordes of challenging mushrooms on an overgrown planet. The core gameplay loop involves landing on the planet, completing missions, and collecting mods to upgrade your setup. The game's aesthetic and frantic pace draw comparisons to Borderlands and Risk of Rain.

The 1.0 update introduces a brand-new class called the Mycologist. This character comes equipped with unique abilities, including Sporelift and Fungal Skewer, alongside a passive infection ability. Players can also take on new objectives, such as the Population Control mission designed to clear high-density enemy areas, or a lighthearted special assignment involving rescuing a sofa.

New weaponry has also arrived, including the Diffraction Driver—an ion scattergun capable of adjusting its firing cone—and snowball grenades. Exploration expands with the addition of X11-B, a new region on the moonlet of New Atlas, which features challenging missions to test player loadouts. Other updates include a rework of the HUB, a redesign of the drop pod, and the introduction of a fulfillment system for in-game achievements.

Mycopunk is available now on PC and PlayStation 5. For those looking to jump in, the game is currently offered at a 50% discount on Steam.
