Mouthwashing arrives on consoles and Xbox Game Pass

The psychological horror Mouthwashing from Wrong Organ has finally expanded beyond PC. The title is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S, and has also been added to Xbox Game Pass.

Developed by Wrong Organ, the game earned significant praise upon its 2024 release. It follows the crew of the Tulpar, a commercial space freighter on a year-long mission, as their journey takes a dark turn following a dramatic opening incident. The narrative establishes a baseline of dread that intensifies as the mission unravels.

Mouthwashing eschews traditional jumpscares in favor of a masterfully crafted sense of discomfort. This atmosphere is built through claustrophobic environmental design, unsettling audio work, and a lo-fi visual style. The physical degradation of the ship's corridors—constricting due to the crew's desperate use of repair foam—serves as a direct reflection of the characters' deteriorating mental states.

The game employs a non-chronological narrative, utilizing digital datamoshing effects during scene transitions to mimic the look of recovered system files. This disorienting structure challenges the player's perception of time and identity. Rather than glorifying violence, the story focuses on the psychological disintegration of the crew and the heavy, often visceral, consequences of their actions.

Players can now experience Mouthwashing on all major current-gen consoles and via Xbox Game Pass. Additionally, a 40% discount is currently active for the PC version on Steam.
