Monster Hunter Outlanders: New Monsters and Gameplay Details
New details regarding Monster Hunter Outlanders, currently in development by TiMi Studio Group and supervised by Capcom, were unveiled during Tokyo Game Show 2026. The mobile title for iOS and Android aims to blend traditional hunting with exploration and crafting elements.
Set on the island of Islesia, the game positions players as "adventurers" rather than traditional hunters. Exploration will take players through diverse environments, including Giant Tree Fields, Sand Plains, Coral Reefs, and Decayed Abyss. A core pillar of the experience is the crafting system, where gathered materials are used to create essential gear and items for expeditions.
To accommodate different skill levels, the game features two control schemes: Hunting Mode for veterans and a simplified Starting Mode for newcomers. Combat is further defined by three distinct player roles: Striker, Technician, and Support, encouraging strategic cooperation in four-player sessions.
New Threats: Luga-Earda and Luminous Species
A major highlight is the introduction of a new original monster, the Elder Dragon Luga-Earda. Known as the "Two Suns," this creature utilizes lightning and light-based attacks, playing a central role in the island's unfolding mystery. The game also introduces Luminous Species, a unique category of monsters with distinct combat patterns that differ from the series' classic roster.
During the event, Capcom producer Ichiro Kiyokawa and TiMi Studio Group producer Huang Dong discussed the collaboration's goal to expand the franchise's reach via mobile. While the current closed beta features seven weapon types, the developers aim to eventually implement all 14 weapons seen in the main series.
Monster Hunter Outlanders is scheduled for release on October 29, 2026, as a free-to-play title with in-app purchases.
