LPL Worlds 2026 Qualifiers Begin: TES and IG Face Off
The LPL qualifying tournament to determine the 3rd and 4th seeds for the League of Legends World Championship 2026 begins today in Shanghai. Unlike other regions that use league standings, LPL will decide its representatives through a series of matches involving teams based on Championship Points.
With Anyone's Legend secured as the 1st seed and Bilibili Gaming as the 2nd, the focus shifts to the 3rd seed bracket. The opening match features Top Esports against Invictus Gaming. TES finished the split in 3rd place but was eliminated in the playoffs following losses to LGD Gaming and IG.
IG, led by Rookie and TheShy, has been on a strong run through the lower bracket, though they ultimately lost to AL in the lower bracket final. The winner of the TES vs. IG matchup will secure the 3rd seed for Worlds. The loser will move to the final match for the 4th seed, facing the winner of the Team WE and JDG series. WE features Charis and About, while JDG is represented by HongQ and Junjia.
