Logitech Unveils MX Master 4 Special Edition for Developers

Logitech has announced a special edition of its highly popular MX Master 4 productivity mouse. Designed as a tribute to the "architects of logic," this version breaks away from the series' traditional professional aesthetic with a unique visual theme and developer-centric details.

Marathon-inspired Aesthetics

While the standard MX Master series typically features conservative colors like graphite, black, or pale gray, this special edition opts for a more vibrant look. The mouse features a two-tone graphite and pale gray design accented with neon yellow shapes reminiscent of the visual style from the video game Marathon.

The release also includes several subtle Easter eggs for programmers. The right-click button is labeled with "//Special Edition," utilizing the double forward slash syntax common in code comments. Additionally, the thumb rest features the text "(‘Hello, World!’)," a nod to the traditional first program written by novice coders.

Core Specifications

Underneath the new styling, the hardware remains identical to the standard MX Master 4, offering the same high-end productivity features:

  • An 8K DPI Darkfield sensor for high-precision tracking on various surfaces;
  • The MagSpeed electromagnetic scroll wheel, capable of scrolling through 1,000 lines per second;
  • Haptic feedback with native integration for Windows 11 users;
  • Customizable shortcuts via Actions Ring.

The Special Edition maintains the same pricing as the standard models. Pre-orders are available for $129.99, with shipping scheduled to begin on October 30.
