LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight — Building Mayhem with The Joker & Harley Quinn
The TT Games team has unveiled details regarding the Mayhem Collection, a new DLC expansion for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. While the base game focuses on the heroic journey of Bruce Wayne, this expansion shifts the spotlight to two of DC's most iconic antagonists: The Joker and Harley Quinn.
A Tribute to Animated Classics
The expansion draws significant inspiration from Batman: The Animated Series, serving as a stylistic homage to the landmark work of Bruce Timm and Paul Dini. Design Director Jimmy Sedota noted that the influence extends beyond mere aesthetics; for instance, certain cutscenes will feature a 4:3 aspect ratio to replicate the original television format.

In a poignant tribute to the late Arleen Sorkin, the original voice actress for Harley Quinn, the expansion includes a shop in Gotham City named “Sorkin’s Gems.” This nod recognizes Sorkin's essential role in defining the character's personality and energy.
Story Expansion and Mayhem Mode
The new narrative offers a reimagined origin story for Harley Quinn, tracing her transformation from Dr. Harleen Quinzel to the notorious villain. Players will explore expanded interiors of Arkham Asylum, experiencing a “typical day” within the facility before the inevitable breakout and festive chaos.

Following the escape, the action moves to Amusement Mile, where players can establish a secret hideout beneath the Funhouse. This base is fully customizable, allowing players to decorate their lair with a new set of Joker and Harley-themed props and items.
For those seeking high-octane action, the Mayhem Mode introduces repeatable, time-limited runs across a locked-down North Island of Gotham. Players can cause widespread chaos—robbing shops, smashing ATMs, painting graffiti, and battling A.R.G.U.S. agents and Task Force X. The studs collected during these runs can be spent on permanent upgrades, 30 new outfits, and various customization options.
A Shift in Combat Dynamics
To differentiate the villains from the heroic roster, the gameplay mechanics have been adjusted. While the original characters rely heavily on melee and utility gadgets, The Joker and Harley Quinn emphasize ranged combat. Their new gadgetry allows for a more frenetic, “run-and-gun” playstyle, enabling players to maintain mobility while engaging enemies from a distance—a necessity for the fast-paced nature of Mayhem Mode.

Additionally, the character Henchmaster (from Batman: The Joker War Zone #1) returns. Players can rescue inmates from Arkham and have Henchmaster train them, creating a customizable crew of henchmen that can be summoned to fight alongside the main duo.
The Mayhem Collection is scheduled for release on September 18 for Xbox Series X|S, offering fans a way to build their own villainous legacy through humor, detailed references, and expanded gameplay loops.
