Japan-made Lavie X14 with Panther Lake CPU offers 30-hour battery life
NEC has unveiled the Lavie X14, a 14-inch laptop featuring an Intel Panther Lake CPU and a massive 99.9 Wh battery.
NEC's Lavie brand has introduced the new Lavie X14, a lightweight 14-inch laptop designed for endurance. It combines the new Intel Panther Lake architecture with a high-capacity battery capable of up to 30 hours of video playback.
The Lavie X14 is built for portability, weighing approximately 1 kg (2.25 lbs) with a thickness of 0.74 inches. It is powered by the Intel Core Ultra 7 355 CPU, an octa-core processor based on the Panther Lake architecture. This chip features four Cougar Cove performance cores and four Darkmont efficiency cores. In Cinebench 2024, the CPU scored roughly 650 points, placing it about 5% ahead of the Apple M3 SoC.
While the CPU handles productivity and light video editing well, the integrated Intel Graphics Xe3 (four-core) is relatively modest. Its performance is comparable to the AMD Radeon 760M found in many mid-range laptops, making it suitable for light gaming only at very low settings.
Battery Life and Connectivity
The standout feature is the 99.9 Wh battery, which provides an impressive 30 hours of video playback or 51 hours of idle time. The device features a 14-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) IPS touchscreen display and comes equipped with 32 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and a 512 GB SSD.
Dual Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports
Dual USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports
HDMI output
MicroSD card reader
Ethernet and Wi-Fi 7 support
3.5 mm audio jack
Additional features include a 1080p IR camera for Windows Hello and an NPU delivering 40 TOPS. The laptop is currently available in Japan for approximately 364,870 yen (~$2,314). As NEC PC focuses its Lavie sales exclusively on the Japanese market, international customers will likely need to rely on forwarding services to acquire the device.
