Joe Lee has officially announced his appointment as the game director for VALORANT. This move clarifies the studio's leadership structure following recent speculation.
Following reports regarding a potential replacement for Andy Ho, VALORANT Studios head Anna Donlon clarified the team's hierarchy. Donlon stated that Ho remains the executive producer, while Lee joins the team as one of the directors working under his leadership.
In a post on X, Joe Lee expressed that working at Riot Games is a dream come true. He mentioned that his interest in developing VALORANT began during the game's initial testing phase under the working title Ares.
Lee is no stranger to the project; in 2022, he served as the director of product management for the game. His new role does not signal a departure for Ho, who continues to oversee all aspects of VALORANT development as executive producer.
