Jimpphat: "I want us to play like the new Aurora"
Jimi "Jimpphat" Salo discussed Aurora's convincing victory over Vitality in the upper bracket final of StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026. In an interview with HLTV.org, the Finnish player touched upon his aggressive approach, psychological adjustments, and the team's desire to move past previous struggles.
By defeating Vitality, Aurora secured their spot in the tournament's grand final in Barcelona. Jimpphat noted that while the team had shown strength in practice, they had previously struggled to translate that form into official matches. The victory over a high-caliber opponent has provided the roster with significant confidence heading into the final stage.
Throughout the series, Jimpphat utilized an extremely proactive style, characterized by aggressive lurks and constant attempts to open rounds. His performance earned him the title of the series' best player. The player emphasized that his current mindset is driven by pure confidence: "I want to win every duel. You can’t be afraid against Vitality. If you think they’re better than you, you’ve already lost."
Beyond individual mechanics, Jimpphat highlighted the importance of mental engagement. He has been working on the psychological aspects of his game alongside ash, focusing on movement and maintaining focus during high-stakes matches. Following their loss to G2 at BLAST Porto, the team held internal discussions to refine their approach. Aurora aims to build on their current momentum and establish themselves as a consistent, "new" version of the team, leaving old inconsistencies behind.
The win also grants Aurora a strategic advantage: they bypass the lower bracket final, allowing more time for rest and analysis before the grand final. Meanwhile, FURIA and Vitality will compete in the lower bracket for the remaining spot in the championship match.
