Heatmaps reveal the most popular bomb plant spots at the IEM Cologne Major
At the IEM Cologne Major in Counter-Strike 2, attackers focused on specific bomb plant locations. Heatmaps created by Reddit user chazeftw highlight which positions were most favored by T-side teams.
Dust2 was the most-played map at the Major, with 289 plants split evenly between sites A and B (55% vs 45%). On Mirage, attackers favored site A by a notable margin of 58%, while Inferno's bombsites received the closest to an even number of plants. Teams favored site B on Nuke, Overpass, Anubis, and Ancient.
Generally, teams significantly favored one or two spots to plant the bomb, which is not surprising as some spots are objectively better than others. However, this data could prove useful for CTs in post-plant scenarios. Reddit users suggested "making the bomb area smaller" on Inferno's B site and noted that Anubis, having the most T-sided map status, featured a pretty wide range of plant locations.
