GTA 6 won't be playable on PC via Xbox cloud at launch
GTA 6 will not be available to PC players via Xbox cloud streaming services at launch, according to a Microsoft executive. This refutes recent reports suggesting an exclusive cloud deal that could have allowed PC users to play the title before a native port arrives.
The rumors, originally reported by The Verge, suggested that Xbox had secured exclusive cloud streaming rights for GTA 6. This speculation was fueled by comments from Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, who teased that Microsoft is working on something "no other platform holder is doing." Some sources interpreted this teaser as a hint at a massive streaming deal for the upcoming crime epic.
If such a deal existed, it would have provided a workaround for PC players, allowing them to stream the game through Xbox services while waiting for an official PC release. However, Matthew Ball, Chief Strategy Officer at Xbox, clarified that the excitement surrounding GTA 6 has led to misreporting. He confirmed that while the company looks forward to the launch of GTAVI on Xbox consoles, the game will not be available via exclusive streaming or on PC at launch.
While Rockstar Games has yet to confirm a release date or a specific timeline for a PC port, the series' history suggests a PC version is likely to follow eventually. For now, the lack of cloud streaming options means PC players will have to wait for a native release rather than using Xbox services as an interim solution.
