Girls und Panzer and The End of Oak Street Unite in a Unique Collaboration
The cinematic project by J.J. Abrams and the anime series Girls und Panzer have joined forces in an unusual collaborative effort. Ahead of the film's premiere, a special video clip featuring characters from the Ooarai High School Tank Club reacting to dinosaurs appearing in their daily lives has been released.
What's Happening
In the trailer for J.J. Abrams' film, which is set to premiere simultaneously in the US and Japan on August 14, familiar faces appear: Mikoto Misumichi (西住みほ), Saori Takabe (武部沙織), and Yukari Akizuki (秋山優花里). The characters notice a strange phenomenon — the appearance of dinosaurs in their city — and try to find a way to deal with it.
The video shows a moment when the heroes notice an anomaly while moving tanks. Then follows a part where they plan an operation to study the situation called "Operation: Pika! Strange Phenomenon!" (秋山優花里の潜入！ピカッと異変だ！大作戦). At the end of the video, the characters even encounter dinosaurs in everyday life in Ooarai.
The Film and Anime
The film The End of Oak Street tells the story of the Platt family living in an ordinary city called Oak Street. However, suddenly dinosaurs start appearing in the city, and residents cannot leave the city. The main roles are played by Anne Hathaway (as Ellie) and Ewan McGregor.
The anime Girls und Panzer is a story about a high school tank club from Ooarai that participates in tournaments. The film also mentions that the fifth episode of the final part of the anime will be released in cinemas on October 9.
Mikoto Misumichi's Comment
Mikoto Misumichi, the main character, said in her comment: "First, gather weapons to deal with dinosaurs even in such a situation." This is typical for her character — she is always ready for any challenges.
