Ghost Recon Wildlands: Last Rites — Everything you need to know
Ubisoft has released a major free update for Ghost Recon Wildlands featuring a new story mission, roleplay settings, and enhanced performance on PS5.
Lead developers from Ubisoft Bordeaux shared insights on the new free update Ghost Recon Wildlands: Last Rites, now available on PS4 and PS5. The update introduces a new story-driven mission, extensive gameplay customization options, and 4K/60 FPS support on next-gen consoles.
In an interview, Creative Director Olivier Leonardi and Live Strategy & Analytics Director Yossef Benzeghadi detailed the features. The centerpiece is a new story mission set in a darker, oppressive Bolivia. Players will face Los Penitentes, a fanatical cult led by the enigmatic antagonist La Llorona, who seeks vengeance against those responsible for her fate.
To cater to roleplay enthusiasts and improve accessibility, the update adds new settings in the Options menu. Players can enable instant death or limitless revives, choose between one or two primary weapons, and decide whether to keep unused ammo when reloading. World and Session Settings allow control over weather, time of day, enemy patrol rates, and even friendly fire for enhanced realism or PvP scenarios.

Performance has been significantly improved on PS5 and PS5 Pro, delivering 4K resolution at 60 FPS. PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members receive exclusive content, including the powerful P416 Micteca assault rifle and the La Llorona Iconic Skin. Additionally, all Ghost War PvP classes are now unlockable for free in the in-game store.
The update also celebrates the 25th anniversary of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon with new Character Smith items. For newcomers, the game is available via Ubisoft+ Classics as a standalone subscription or through existing PlayStation Plus tiers. Standard and Definitive Editions can be purchased separately on the PlayStation Store.
