Gen.G parts ways with Ash, Efina and coach peri
Gen.G has ended the contracts of Hyuncheol "Ash" Ha, Nakyeon "Efina" Kim, and coach Beomgi "peri" Jung as the 2026 season concludes. The move comes at a pivotal moment, following reports that the organization has already secured a partnership slot for the 2027–2028 seasons.
Ash's departure marks the end of a journey from the Gen.G Global Academy to the main roster, a transition he made in March 2025 following yoman's exit. He was one of the few players retained during the organization's roster overhaul last October. Efina's tenure was notably shorter; he was signed in July as the in-game leader to replace Lakia, alongside academy prospect Raxcal.

The midseason rebuild showed significant potential, as Gen.G dominated the Stage 2 group stage with a 5-0 record to take the top spot in their group. However, this momentum was insufficient to secure a spot in Shanghai. The four Pacific Champions slots for the season were ultimately claimed by Nongshim RedForce, Global Esports, Paper Rex, and T1.

With peri's exit, the coaching staff changes that began after the departures of solo and HSK are now complete. Gen.G faces a busy off-season as they look to recruit a new shot-caller and head coach ahead of the 2027 season.
