Gen.G defeats Lions 2-1 to advance to Worlds 2026 Top 8
Tournament favorite Gen.G eSports secured a hard-fought comeback victory against LCS seed Lions during the third round of the League of Legends World Championship 2026 Swiss Stage. The win guarantees their progression to the top 8.
The match took place on October 26 at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Texas. After dropping the first game, Gen.G fought back in the second map. Despite early setbacks during objective contests, the team regained momentum through mid-lane skirmishes and a strong performance by Ruler on Ashe, who secured a triple kill at the 23-minute mark. This allowed Gen.G to secure the Cloud Soul and eventually level the series.
In the deciding third game, Gen.G maintained control to avoid a third map. Following a decisive fight at the 28-minute mark that resulted in an ace, the team pushed into the Lions base to finish the game. With this victory, Gen.G becomes the second LCK representative to advance to the quarterfinals, following Dplus KIA.
