GALAX RTX 5080 HOF Extreme: Two 12V-2×6 Connectors for a 360-Watt-GPU
New promotional materials from GALAX reveal the RTX 5080 HOF Extreme featuring a custom PCB, quad-fan cooling, and dual 12V-2×6 connectors for a 360W GPU.
GALAX is turning the GeForce RTX 5080 into a much more extreme piece of hardware than NVIDIA originally intended. New promotional materials showcase the RTX 5080 HOF Extreme with a custom PCB, Dual-BIOS, four fans, and two 12V-2×6 power connectors. This setup raises significant technical questions, given that the reference TGP (Total Graphics Power) for this GPU is 360W.
Two Connectors vs. 360W TGP
A standard GeForce RTX 5080 is not typically a candidate for dual 16-pin power delivery. While a single 12V-2×6 connector is theoretically designed to handle much higher loads, GALAX has opted for two. This is consistent with the Hall-of-Fame (HOF) series, which is engineered for extreme overclocking rather than standard daily use. The extra power delivery is likely intended to provide massive headroom for overclockers and to reduce the electrical load on each individual contact.
Beyond the power delivery, the HOF Extreme features a fully customized power design, eFuse protection, gold-plated video outputs, and a massive cooler equipped with four fans (three main fans and one rear fan to enhance airflow). The aesthetic is also completed with Swarovski crystals, a signature element of the HOF line.
Overclocking Potential
It is important to note that dual connectors do not automatically imply a four-digit power limit. GALAX has not yet confirmed the final TGP or whether both connectors will be used simultaneously. It remains possible that the dual-connector layout is designed for cable routing flexibility. However, for extreme scenarios involving liquid nitrogen, distributing the current across two connectors is a significant advantage for PCB stability and thermal management.
The official unveiling of the RTX 5080 HOF Extreme is expected on October 22. Only then will we see the confirmed power limits, clock speeds, and the exact operational logic of the dual 12V-2×6 interface.
