G2 Coach Perkz: "We will beat DK and advance from Swiss with a win"
G2 Esports head coach Luka "Perkz" Perković is feeling confident ahead of the League of Legends World Championship Swiss Stage. In a recent interview, he stated that his team is prepared to defeat Dplus KIA to secure an opening victory in the group stage.
Making his debut as a head coach on the world stage, Perkz admitted that his mindset has shifted significantly from his days as a professional player. While he previously focused on individual matchups, his current priority is the strategic direction of the team and providing the necessary support for his players to succeed.
Perkz elaborated on his transition from an assistant coach, a role he held during MSI, to his current position. He emphasized that his responsibilities have expanded to include managing player mental health, stress, and overall team direction. A key part of his role, according to Perkz, is the draft phase. He believes he has a natural talent for identifying pick-and-ban advantages, which he considers a crucial element of his coaching style.
Regarding the upcoming clash against Dplus KIA, Perkz addressed comments suggesting that the Korean roster wants to face G2. He suggested that from their perspective, avoiding G2 might have been the safer choice, expressing strong belief in his squad's capabilities: "I believe we will win. We will know the result tomorrow, but I think we will leave the first day of the Swiss Stage with a 1-0 record."
