G.SKILL launches Trident Z5 Royal NeoX DDR5-6000 RAM with AMD EXPO ULL
G.Skill has officially launched the Trident Z5 Royal NeoX, a new line of DDR5 memory kits specifically engineered for AMD Ryzen desktop platforms. These modules run at the DDR5-6000 speed sweet spot while introducing support for AMD EXPO Ultra Low Latency (ULL) profiles, designed to minimize latency alongside high bandwidth.
The new lineup is aimed at enthusiasts who prioritize both performance and aesthetics. The kits feature the brand's signature flashy heatsinks with a shiny finish available in Gold or Silver, complemented by a crystalline RGB light bar. While visually striking, the primary technical focus remains on delivering low sub-timings that enhance system responsiveness.
At launch, four variants are available, all offering 32GB capacity (2x16GB) to ensure compatibility with most gaming and productivity workloads. The kits differ by their latency profiles, ranging from CL36-36-36-76 down to the tighter CL26-36-36-32. These figures are complemented by optimized secondary and tertiary timings that can be easily activated via the built-in ULL profile in the BIOS.
To access these specific EXPO ULL profiles, users must have a compatible CPU, motherboard, and an up-to-date BIOS. G.Skill notes that this support does not require exotic motherboards, provided the firmware is updated. However, enthusiasts are advised to check their motherboard's support page before purchasing, as these premium kits carry a higher price tag than standard counterparts.
Early benchmarks suggest that enabling EXPO ULL can boost gaming performance by approximately 4%. It is important to note, however, that this benefit may be negligible on CPUs equipped with 3D V-Cache, such as the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X3D. These processors are less sensitive to memory configuration changes due to their large internal cache, meaning users of X3D chips might not see a significant performance gain from these specific low-latency kits.
Pricing and global availability have not yet been revealed, with G.Skill indicating a phased worldwide rollout. Given that similar Trident Z5 Royal Neo DDR5-6000 kits without the ULL branding start at around $899, it is expected that these new modules will maintain a premium price point.
Users should be aware that mixing different memory kits is not recommended, as even visually identical modules can differ in internal chips, voltage requirements, and profiles. Additionally, while the EXPO profile simplifies setup, it relies on specific BIOS activation; without it, the system will default to conservative JEDEC settings.
