FSL: KT 'UTA' defeats BFX 'Light' 4:2 to win 2026 Summer Grand Final
KT Rolster's uta (Lee Ji-hwan) defeated BNK FearX's light (Kim Sun-jae) 4:2 to claim the championship at the 2026 FSL Summer Grand Final, held on September 6 at the Jamsil DN Colosseum.
The match began with uta taking an early lead in the first set, scoring first with Cha Bum-kun. However, light responded by saving a penalty kick and equalizing in the 32nd minute. In the second half, light took the lead in the 53rd minute with a goal from Ronaldo and maintained control of the attack, ultimately winning the set 3:1.
In the second set, uta missed a clear early chance with Son Heung-min but found his rhythm shortly after. A breakthrough by Cha Bum-kun led to a powerful shot for the opening goal in the 15th minute, followed by a second goal from An Yong-hwan in the 22nd minute. uta extended the lead to 4:0, and although light managed to score twice in the second half, uta secured the set 4:2.
The third set saw light strike first with Ronaldo in the 12th minute. uta quickly turned the game around with a long-range shot from Ki Sung-yueng in the 30th minute and a header from An Yong-hwan, leading 2:1. Just before halftime, uta added another goal to take a 3:1 lead. Despite light recovering one goal early in the second half, uta added another to close out the set 5:3.
Following the draft, the fourth set saw light score first in the 20th minute. uta equalized soon after and played with composure, taking the lead 2:1 in the 59th minute with a goal from Zidane. He extended the lead to 3:1 in the 65th minute. light pulled one back to make it 2:3 but failed to find an equalizer, leaving uta one set away from the title.
The fifth set was a tight contest. light scored first, and the first half ended without further goals. The second half featured intense back-and-forth action until uta equalized, sending the match to overtime. In the extra time, light took a 2:1 lead. With only 15 minutes remaining for uta, light held on to win the set 2:1, leveling the series at 2:3.
In the decisive sixth set, light opened the scoring, but uta scored twice before halftime to lead 2:1. light equalized in the second half to make it 2:2. uta then broke through the defense again to lead 3:2 and won a penalty kick in the 88th minute. Although light saved the penalty, he could not score the equalizer, allowing uta to win the set and the series 4:2, cementing his status as the 2026 FSL Summer champion.
