FlyQuest forfeit IEM Beijing qualifier due to undersea cable damage
FlyQuest were forced to forfeit the IEM Beijing 2026 grand final against TYLOO due to a severed undersea cable that rendered their connection unplayable.
The Australian team experienced ping values exceeding 200ms, a result of physical damage to the internet connection between Australia and Singapore. According to FlyQuest's statement on X, the issue is affecting all traffic from Australia to Asia, making competitive play impossible.
A reschedule was not possible because TYLOO is scheduled to compete at FISSURE Playground 3 the following week. The forfeit carries significant implications for FlyQuest's international standing, as qualification for IEM Beijing would have substantially strengthened their case for an invite to the PGL Singapore Major in November.
Currently, Justin "jks" Savage and his teammates sit on the bubble for the PGL Singapore Major invite, positioned just above fellow Australian side THUNDER dOWNUNDER. Their next opportunity to secure an international LAN appearance comes via the PGL Masters Bucharest Oceania Closed Qualifier. If FlyQuest win that qualifier, they will advance to the overall Asia Closed Qualifier, where they will face representatives from the West and East Asia regions for a spot at PGL Masters Bucharest.
