Everything you need to know about DMZ mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
DMZ serves as the definitive extraction shooter experience in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, launching alongside the campaign and multiplayer on October 23.
The core of the experience is the Forward Operating Base (FOB), a command center where players manage progression, prepare gear, and plan deployments. As players complete operations across Hajin, the FOB evolves from a simple foothold into a fully operational base featuring over a dozen different stations.
At launch, players will have immediate access to several key stations: Operators for managing active duty personnel, DMZ Orders for tracking mission objectives and rewards, and Stash/Loadout for storing looted items and equipping gear. A Firing Range is also available for weapon testing, while the Deploy station serves as the gateway to deployment.
As players progress through Hajin, they can unlock advanced base upgrades, including:
- 3D Printer: used for crafting gear and upgrading FOB stations using resources;
- Gunsmith: allows purchasing attachments with DMZ Cash or building new weapons using a Weapon Manual;
- Vendor: a rotating shop offering weapons and essential gear;
- Bounty Leaderboard and Boss Board: tools to track dangerous PvP hunters and high-value targets like Lieutenants;
- Dog Tag Case: a display for trophies taken from defeated Operators;
- DMZ Progression: a dedicated track from levels 1 to 70 that unlocks new stations and rewards.
Players can customize their gameplay through three deployment modes: Story Missions for narrative objectives, Dynamic Operations to earn DMZ Cash and XP, and Free Roam for unrestricted exploration of Hajin City.
To maximize XP gains, players are encouraged to prioritize Story Missions, Orders, and hunting high-value targets like Commanders and Lieutenants. Consistent looting is essential for utilizing the 3D Printer and improving match ratings, with the goal of achieving an S Tier performance. Additionally, players must manage their visibility, as the Threat Level in different areas of Hajin dictates the intensity of enemy responses.
