Demacia Cup expands globally with LCK and LPL teams joining in October

Riot Games has officially expanded the Demacia Cup into a global tournament, set to kick off in October with top-tier teams from across the globe.

The event will run from October 3rd to 17th, featuring a significantly larger roster of participants. The Chinese LPL will see teams ranked 5th through 7th join the fray, while the Korean LCK will send its 5th and 6th placed squads. The LCK qualifiers will begin today with the finals between Hanjin BrioN and BNK FearX determining the first qualifier.

European and North American representation includes the 4th and 5th ranked teams from the LEC and LCS respectively, alongside the 4th placed team from the Chinese LCP and Brazil's CBLoL. The competition will follow a Swiss Stage format online, with the top four surviving teams advancing to an offline Knockout Stage in Beijing.

The total prize pool stands at 1.5 million RMB (approximately $209,000 USD), with the winner taking home 600,000 RMB (roughly $83,000 USD). The Swiss Stage will be played online, while the knockout rounds will take place in person in Beijing.
