GEN Canyon on Qualifying for Worlds 2026 Knockout Stage: "I will make sure that I reach New York"
Gen.G jungler Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu has confirmed the team's readiness for the next phase of Worlds 2026. Following their victory over LYON in the Swiss Stage, which secured their spot in the Knockout Stage, Canyon discussed the team's performance and his personal goals for the tournament.
During the interview, Canyon admitted that the team's composition in the first game was flawed. He noted that the draft lacked sufficient teamfight capability, a weakness that the squad recognized and aimed to address moving forward.
Preparation also involved accounting for the unique champion pool of LYON jungler Kacper "Inspired" Sloma. Canyon highlighted how Inspired can make unconventional picks effective through pure mechanics, citing his use of Xin Zhao in the opening game as an example of a non-meta pick that remained dangerous due to the player's skill.
Looking ahead to the Knockout Stage in New York, Canyon expressed high confidence. He revealed that his North American solo queue name, Concrete jungle#USA, serves as a source of personal motivation to ensure the team reaches the final stages of the competition.
The Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage is currently underway, running from October 23 to October 31. Sixteen teams are competing for a place in the Knockout Stage, with advancement and elimination matches played in a Best-of-3 format using Fearless Draft.
