Battlefield 6 devs to fix "Secuty" typo, but five-pistol outfit was intentional
Battlefield Studios has responded to player backlash following the discovery of a "Secuty" typo on a Battlefield 6 Season 5 skin. The error sparked discussions among fans, some of whom accused the studio of using generative AI to create cosmetic items.
In a social media statement, the studio acknowledged the feedback and confirmed that a correction for the McNeil character skin is planned. The fix will be included in a scheduled update for the second phase of Season 5. Developers admitted that releasing known visual errors without immediate clarification can erode player trust, promising to improve how they communicate such bugs in the future.
While some errors are being addressed, others are staying as intended. The Midnight Mirage skin, which features a character equipped with five pistols, was described by the team as an "intentional creative concept." The studio explained it is a nod to over-the-top action movie tropes where operatives carry backup weapons on every available inch of their gear. However, they conceded that the design might appear unintentional when released alongside other cosmetic anomalies.
Notably, the studio did not explicitly confirm or deny the accusations regarding the use of generative AI to produce the skins. Season 5 launched this week for Battlefield 6, and while the new maps, weapons, and vehicles have been generally well-received, the season's launch was overshadowed by the AI controversy and issues regarding XP gain.
