At Dead of Night sequel The Great Hugo is coming "(very) soon"
Baggy Cat Games, the team behind the viral FMV horror At Dead of Night, has confirmed that a sequel is
At Dead of Night 2: The Great Hugo will pick up the story five years after the events of the original game. Maya, still haunted by her experiences at the Sea View Hotel, seeks answers by tracking down a device similar to the ghost box she used during her escape. After consulting her old friend and counselor, Quinn—who helped her navigate her supernatural experiences in the past—she learns that such devices were crafted by an inventor who lived in a large Tudor manor house near Sea View. Despite Quinn's warnings, Maya decides to pursue her own investigation.
The original At Dead of Night gained significant traction during the pandemic, largely thanks to streamers and content creators like Markiplier, 8-BitRyan, John Wolfe, and DomPlays. These creators introduced audiences to Jimmy Hall, the unsettling hotel landlord obsessed with recruiting an audience for his late-night comedy show and his psychopathic alter ego, Hugo Punch.
While the exact release window for At Dead of Night 2: The Great Hugo remains unspecified beyond the promise of it arriving "(very) soon," the horror genre has seen other activity this week. Brian Clarke, the developer of The Mortuary Assistant, released Playable Archive as a freebie—a small slice of his cancelled Paranormal Activity game that offers a glimpse into what might have been.
