Astraea Oratio: A Reinterpretation, Not Just a Revival of 'Shin-zennki'
At Tokyo Game Show 2026, Dinamis One showcased their upcoming title Astraea Oratio. Rather than a simple recreation of the past, the developers aim to provide a modern reinterpretation of the 'Shin-zennki' genre, set in a mystical version of Tokyo during the late 90s and early 2000s.
In an interview with Inven, Director Lim Jong-gyu and Art Director Kim In discussed the game's core vision. The story follows an 'Inspector' working for a special administrative office tasked with managing wizards in a fictionalized Tokyo. The narrative focuses on the intersection of mundane daily life and supernatural occurrences.
The combat system is designed to blend turn-based strategy with real-time tension. Players will be able to execute combos, react to enemy movements to minimize damage, and trigger high-impact abilities like 'Territory Declaration.' Lim Jong-gyu emphasized that the goal is to move beyond mere cinematic spectacle, allowing players to feel the satisfaction of executing well-planned, strategic maneuvers.
Key features revealed include:
- Narrative: The main story will be presented in a visual novel style, featuring full Japanese voice acting for all characters and monologues.
- Characters: The game plans to feature approximately 30 characters across about 10 different playable groups.
- Platform: While a PC build is in long-term development, the primary focus is on mobile devices to ensure the experience is fully optimized for smartphones.
Regarding the release strategy, the developers confirmed that Astraea Oratio is targeting a simultaneous global launch across Korea, Japan, the US, and Europe. Details regarding the Closed Beta Test (CBT) schedule will be announced soon. Kim In noted that the CBT will serve as a 'pilot program' to test the loop of story, combat, and daily life mechanics, ensuring the game is ready for long-term live service.
