Alter Ego to make history as first Asian team at FRAG event
Indonesian organization Alter Ego has officially registered for FRAG University. The move is set to make history, as they will be the first organization from Asia to compete in a FRAG event.
While FRAG events have frequently attracted top squads from Europe and Brazil looking to secure points for the Valve Regional Standings, Asian organizations have remained absent due to the high costs and travel complexities associated with North American trips.
The decision for Alter Ego to participate in FRAG University likely stems from the $25,000 prize pool and the event's timing, occurring less than a month before the invite cutoff for the PGL Major Singapore 2026. The team's international roster features three Asian players and two Europeans, including former TYLOO star Hansel "BnTeT" Ferdinand and Mongolian prospect Maks "laxiee" Andryei, who is already familiar with the North American LAN scene.
With this registration, Alter Ego joins a growing list of high-profile participants for the Syracuse, New York event. They are the fifth major team to sign up, joining North American contenders M80, Marsborne, NRG, and Wildcard.
