Aleksib could face suspended prison sentence for tax fraud

According to the Finnish tabloid Iltalehti, NAVI player Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen could face a four-month suspended prison sentence. Regional authorities in Eastern Uusimaa allege that the player committed aggravated tax fraud by failing to report €53,000 of taxable income in 2020.

A subpoena cited by the publication claims that Aleksib did not include income from sticker sales in his 2020 tax returns. The court alleges this intentional underreporting allowed the player to avoid paying €28,000 in taxes. At the time of the alleged incident, Aleksib was competing for OG, following his tenure with ENCE, where he participated in two Majors.

While reports suggest Aleksib admitted to not reporting the income, he maintains that he was unaware at the time that such earnings were considered taxable. A final ruling is expected at a later date. A suspended sentence would mean the player avoids actual jail time, provided he meets all court-imposed conditions.
