ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THE VE — Details and New FA-36
Bandai Namco Entertainment has shared new information regarding its upcoming flight shooter, ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THE VE. Through a new story trailer, developer PROJECT ACES showcased the game's narrative premise, key characters, and a brand-new original aircraft.
Set in July 2029 within the fictional world of Strangereal, the story follows the fallout of a sudden invasion by the Republic of Sotea against the Central Union of Eusia (FCU). After the FCU suffers heavy losses, the player is rescued by the veteran aircraft carrier Endurance. Taking on the legendary callsign "Wings of Sieve," the player and three allies will fight to reclaim lost territories.

The trailer introduced several key figures: Camille Tuya (voiced by Asami Noto), leader of the Sotea ace squadron "Lux Lunae"; Girish Toprak (voiced by Kenyu Horinouchi), a top Sotea ace pursuing the "Wings"; and D.D. (voiced by Setsuji Sato), who handles logistics and intelligence aboard the Endurance.

A major highlight is the debut of the FA-36 Game, an original tailless stealth fighter. Featuring variable-sweep wings and 3D thrust vectoring engines, the aircraft is designed for extreme maneuverability. Its nickname, "Game," is inspired by the junglefowl. The playable roster also includes established aircraft such as the F-15E Strike Eagle, F-16C Fighting Falcon, A-6E Intruder, Gripen E, Su-35S Flanker-E, and Su-47 Berkut.

The presentation also showcased futuristic superweapons, including the Mega Float Fatsia—a 6-kilometer-long multi-layered structure equipped with a 2,000-meter runway for heavy transport aircraft—and the Spear of Tonitrus, a Sotea orbital weapon that uses kinetic energy from heavy metal rods launched from low Earth orbit to destroy targets.

ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THE VE is scheduled for release on October 2, 2026, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
