100 Thieves secure EWC 2026 qualifier playoff spot after beating BC.Game
100 Thieves continued their dominant run at the Esports World Cup 2026 Open Qualifier, eliminating BC.Game and earning a berth in the knockout stage. This victory marks a significant milestone for the American team, representing their first appearance at a Tier 1 event since re-entering Counter-Strike earlier this year.
The series began on Inferno, where BC.Game showed strong form, winning the pistol round and leading 8-4 into halftime. However, 100 Thieves fought back in the second half, forcing overtime before taking the map 16-12.
Nuke proved to be a tougher challenge for the visitors. Despite 100 Thieves narrowing the gap to 5-7, BC.Game maintained control and closed out the map with a 13-7 victory.
The deciding match took place on Anubis. After BC.Game won their fourth pistol of the series and kept the score tight at 6-6 in the first half, they extended their lead to 8-10. Jack 'Gizmy' von Spreckelsen's squad stayed strong, rallying back to win the map 13-11 and clinch the series 2-1.
For BC.Game, this result marked the end of their journey in Paris. Despite a valiant effort from Oleksandr 's1mple' Kostyliev, who finished the series with an impressive K/D of +20 and a 1.34 rating, the team could not overcome the resistance of their opponents.
Following this win, 100 Thieves also secured a victory against 1win, officially locking in their playoff spot. The EWC 2026 Open Qualifier bracket is now fully set, with the group stage beginning on August 12th.
